My name is Lisa Geer. I Currently Live in Tennessee with my two children Jacob and Natalie. My husband David Geer is currently deployed to Iraq for the third time. David and I met while I was in the Army stationed in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. We were married on March 4th, 2005. He deployed shortly after. While he was deployed we welcomed our first child, Jacob Ryan Geer, into the world on October 5th, 2005. After he came home from that deployment he was stationed in Arizona for about six months while Jacob and I stayed in California so that we could see him on holidays. After that time Jacob and I stayed in Pennsylvania with David’s family while he out processed his until in North Carolina.
On April 16th, 2007 David and I purchased our home here in Clarksville, Tennessee. He deployed about four months later. On February 9th, 2008 I gave birth to our second child, Natalie Nevaeh Geer, while he was home on his mid-tour leave. It was a great experience for him as well as Jacob and myself.
David is currently at the 9-month mark in a 15-18 month deployment. After he returns we will be selling our home and moving to a remote island chain in the south pacific. The Island we will be living on is called Kwajalein Atoll. From what I understand locals call it Kwaj. We will be there at least two years and from there will likely be moving to Japan. The island is a missile defense testing facility. There are very few people on the island and only about 20 military personnel. It is located near Fiji and is only 17 miles off the equator. So it remains the same temperature all year round, between 77-87 degrees. I encourage all of you interested to google the island. It has very interesting history.
It should be quite the experience and David will not be deployed while we live on the island. He and I are both very excited and looking forward to having some time as a family while living on a tropical island.
